This is the first time that the rare color has been offered in America.
14 years. This was the first time the Nissan GT-R appeared in the motoring industry. We are here in 2021, celebrating Nissan’s enduring supercar. It now comes with a bright twist in the form the 2021 GT-RT-spec.
This special-edition GT-R, as mentioned in the headline will be available in Millennium Jade. Skyline enthusiasts know that it was used last on the R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nur GT-R, one of the most rare GT-Rs. It has not been available in North America but is now available as one of the two options for the T-Spec. Midnight Purple, Nissan says, is the second choice. It’s a modern interpretation of two other purples – Midnight Opal, another special edition GT-Rreleased back in 2014 and Midnight Purple III, the Skyline R34 VSpec.
What other features does the GT-R T-spec offer? It’s a more streamlined GTR Track Edition with no suspension upgrades. The Track has wider front fenders and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler. The Track’s corners are adorned with Rays forged aluminum wheels in gold, and carbon-ceramic brakes. The package also includes brake air guides from the GT-R Nickel. And of course, a GT-R special-edition GT-R is not complete without body-colored mirrors and black hood ducts. Inside, there’s a new Mori green interior color, with lots of leather, suede and Alcantara.
The powertrain remains unchanged, with 565 horsepower (421kW) coming from the twin-turbocharged V6 that drives all four wheels via a six speed dual-clutch transmission. There are rumors of a GT-R final-edition with 700 horsepower (522 kW), but these rumors have not been proven to be true.
Nissan claims that the GT-R T-spec slots will be higher than the GT-R Premium. Only 100 units will be made for the whole world, and 65 units are expected to reach North America. The press release clearly states that this model will be available in 2021. Curiously. We don’t blame Nissan for trying to slow down the time. September debuts usually focus on next year’s models, but the GT-R is already 14 years old. The GT-R will arrive in America in winter at a starting price $138,490. This excludes $1,795 destination fees.
