This could be the off-highway star you’ve been waiting for, the Raptor R.
There’s a new player in the ultra-high-performance off-road segment, and its name is very familiar all around the world. Shelby American bought the new 2021 Ford F-150, and gave it a makeover. But don’t mistake this rig for a Super Snake. The Shelby F-150 is simply that, and its mission it to conquer all things off the beaten path.
The world knows Shelby is a proud car, and it shows. The bold Shelby front grille features a new bumper cover and fender vents. You can still see the huge Shelby lettering on the grille twice at the sides in the lower stripes and above the taillights. The bumper cladding at the rear is painted in body color. So are the door handles and side mirrors. The hood has ram air vents and the LeMans stripe. Two-tone leather seat covers and carbon-fiber trim are added to the interior.
Buyers have the option to choose which engine they want. The highest-end version features a 5.0-liter V8 which Shelby supercharges for 775 horsepower (578kilowatts). You can also choose to keep the engine naturally aspirated for a slightly lower price, but each Shelby F-150 receives a performance intake that includes a high-flow filter, carbon-fiber intake tube and upgraded throttle body. Also, fuel injectors and performance heat exchangers are included.
The new Shelby F-150 clicks all the right buttons for an ultra-high-performance off-roader, but as you can guess, it comes at an ultra-high cost. Lariat 4×4 Shelby F-150s come in a range of models. Prices start at $107,080 for a truck with a naturally-aspirated engine. The 775-hp version starts at $114 9980. 600 units are in production and will be available for purchase in the United States as well as in select European countries.
