Suspension is the most important upgrade.
The 2021 Toyota Corolla Apex Edition is a nice surprise from the Japanese automaker. The compact car has received a number of minor upgrades with the new model. Pricing information was not available until now. According to CarsDirect, the Apex Edition SE model of the Toyota will cost $26,065 and include the destination fee. The Apex Edition XSE is the top-tier model and costs $29,205.
The publication points out that this is a substantial premium over the standard Corolla SE or XSE models – $2695 and $2385, respectively. Toyota spends the extra money to upgrade the suspension. The most significant change is the lowering of the suspension by 0.6 inch thanks to new coil springs and internal rebound shocks. The suspension is also stiffer: 33% more in the rear and 47% more in front, which will improve driving dynamics.
Toyota also upgraded the car’s appearance by adding a custom body kit and bronze accents to it. The black, 18-inch wheels weigh 2.2 more than the standard Corolla set and are exclusive to the Apex. Toyota offers two exterior paint options: a two-tone or blacked out single-tone. This would make the gold accents stand out. Customers who purchase XSE have faux leather seats that can be adjusted eight ways.
Toyota did not change the Corolla’s engine. Apex Edition models will continue to use the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 169 horsepower (126kilowatts) as well as 151 pound-feet (205 Newton-meters). It can be paired with either a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Toyota will only produce 6,000 Apex Edition models in 2021. Only 120 Apex Edition SE Apex Editions with manual transmissions will be made. The 2021 Corolla Apex Edition will soon be available at dealerships alongside the regular 2021 Corolla.
