It can be ordered with either a manual or dual-clutch transmission.
The next-gen Volkswagen GolfR will debut on November 4, but engineers continue to push the hot hatch around Nurburgring Nordschleife. The slow gear changes make it sound like the team is working on a six-speed manual version.

Turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines will power the Golf R. had previously leaked that it would produce 329 horsepower (or 245 kilowatts). Recent information suggests that the hot hatch is using the same 315 horsepower (235-kW), tune as the ArteonR. A dual-clutch gearbox would be available in addition to the manual.
The new Golf R will be available in Europe by the second half of 2021. The new GTI won’t be available in the USA until the 2022 model-year. This means that American customers may have to wait longer to see the more desirable version.
Spy shots indicate that the Golf R will be available in other flavors. VW has been working on the high output powertrain for the Golf Variant stationwagon. A hotter, version of the high-riding and rugged Alltrack has also been used to lap the Nordschleife.
