The race car costs $505,000 and features a new wing as well as a revised engine air intake.
In March 2015, Audi’s motorsport division presented the LMS GT3 race car version of its second-generation R8. This was before updating its track-only V10 machine. Today, Audi Sport unveils the Evo II specification for its mid-engined supercar. It will slot between the GT2A and GT4 in its track-only R8 lineup.
The R8 LMS GT3 Evo II has been upgraded for the 2022 racing season. It features tweaks in aerodynamics and chassis. Traction control, engine characteristics, climate control, and engine characteristics. The predecessor’s floor was responsible for most of the downforce but the current race car relies heavily on the rear wing to produce the desired levels of downforce.
The R8 LMS GT3’s suspension features four-way adjustable dampers. The traction control system has more options than ever before. Audi Sport engineers have created a new intake for the engine that allows for better torque delivery from the 5.2-liter mid-mounted unit. This unit can produce up to 585 horsepower (430 milliwatts), depending on regulations.
We haven’t seen interior photos, but we know that the race-ready R8 has reworked climate control for better comfort. These changes will be applied to new cars, but they can also be used as part of a retrofit package that is available for vehicles with existing owners who want the most recent developments from Audi Sport.
The asking price for the race car has increased significantly since its original 2016 edition. The original one was EUR359,000, before taxes. It went up to EUR398,000 for R8 LMS GT3 Evo, and to EUR429,000 now for Evo II. The current exchange rate means that the R8 LMS GT3 Evo will cost you approximately $505,000.
The 2022 LMS is a track-only machine that carries the Four Rings at a lower price. It’s the perfect entry point to Audi Sport’s motorsport offerings.
