2022 BMW X4 Facelift – Inside and Out

Larger touchscreen inside, smaller lights outside.

In September 2020, we got our first taste of the BMW X4. The camouflage level hasn’t changed much since then. However, the test vehicles don’t wear much camouflage to begin with. These latest photos give us a first glimpse inside the crossover. There are also minor changes.

We’ll actually start our journey inside, where we notice some differences. The overall layout of the dash and door panels are the same. It isn’t a complete rewrite. The digital instrument panel is hidden behind the steering wheel, and only a few stylistic variations are visible on the spokes. Although the center stack is mostly hidden by covers and testing gears, the infotainment screen may be slightly larger. A redesigned center console is also visible with a smaller shift stalk. However, at least a clearly defined shift stalk remains part of the formula.

The exterior camouflage remains heavy around the grille, but we can get closer to the car than ever before using the most recent photos. New headlights will be coming soon, and they are slimmer thanks to the lenses of the 5 Seriessedan. The grille looks smaller than the 4 Series’s polarizing design. The front fascia will likely be modified slightly and the grille may shrink slightly, but not expect any major changes. The rear also gets updated lights.

The powertrain options will be available throughout the lineup. However, there is always the possibility to change the engine mapping to give you a little more power. There might be minor adjustments to the suspension, but nothing major.
