It is the most powerful small Cadillac ever built.
We have waited for Cadillac’s new performance-oriented Blackwing models to be released for a while, but they are now officially available. Today, the company also revealed the new Cadillac CT4V Blackwing sedan. Cadillac hopes that the CT4-V Blackwing, which boasts 472 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and a six-speed manual transmission, will rival the German options.
Blackwing replaces the base CT4V’s turbo four with a twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter V6. This engine is the same engine as the Chevrolet Blazer or Cadillac XT6. This setup allows the Blackwing model to achieve an impressive 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet (602 newton-meters). You can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 10-speed auto, which sends power to the rear wheels.
The CT4-V adopts the most recent version of GM’s highly acclaimed Magnetic Ride Control. Version 4.0 adds hollow stabilizer bars to the front and rear suspensions. This makes the CT4V Blackwing more agile in Track or Sport driving modes but also allows for greater comfort on the roads in standard Tour driving mode. The CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing models both have an electronic limited-slip rear differential.
The Blackwing model is visually similar to the CT4-V. The Blackwing model has more aggressive carbon fiber elements at the front, a bigger grille with prominent side vents, and a visible carbon fiber spoiler outback. New carbon fiber elements are found on the dash and center console. A 3D-printed shifter is positioned in the middle. This is exactly what Cadillac plans for the similarly-hot CT5-V Blackwing.
The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is faster and more powerful than German alternatives such as the Audi RS3 or the Mercedes-AMG CLA45. The RS3 produces 394 hp (294 kW), and it takes 3.9 seconds for 60 to reach 60. While the CLA 45 generates 382 hp (284 kW), and takes 4.0 seconds for 60 to reach 60, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is the fastest and most powerful option. The Cadillac is also very affordable.
The Cadillac CT4V-V is priced at $59,990 without options. This makes it only a few thousand more expensive than the RS3 ($56,000.00) and CLA 45 (54.800). Although it is not clear if the CT4 will receive the same options that the larger CT5V Blackwing should, such as Super Cruise or any trim-specific features or paint options, buyers who want to secure one of the 250 CT4-V Blackwing models can place a $1,000 deposit now.
