2022 Cadillac CT5V Blackwing: How Would We Spec It?

There are many options available.

The Cadillac CT5V was our initial reaction. It was at best, lukewarm. The twin-turbocharged V6 was strong, the dynamics were great, and the styling was excellent, depending on how you looked at it. It was obvious right away that the car could use more power – and that’s why the Blackwing model is so useful.

The new CT5V Blackwing Cadillac is the most powerful ever made. It boasts a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine under the hood and 668 horsepower (698 kilowatts). Period. It is also one of the most expensive Cadillacs ever made, starting at $83,995 and going up to $125,980 with post-options.

There are many options available if you’re looking for a quick Caddy and are willing spend the money. We spent a lot of time fiddling with the online configurator to create our CT5-V Blackwing.

There are two options for exterior paint: Summit White or Raven Black. Cadillac has many eye-catching color options, including Blaze Orange and Electric Blue. While the Dark Emerald and Dark Emerald are both $625 each, it is available for a very limited time. This paint is $3,925. It looks amazing.

Cadillac also offered two carbon fiber packages to improve the exterior’s toughness. The first package is available at $4,100 and adds a carbon-fiber front splitter, wheel deflectors, as well as a small rear spoiler. Package two is a $5,230 option that adds a carbon fiber grille header and rocker moldings. It also includes an extended rear wings.

There are three options for 19-inch wheels. The standard wheel has a ten-spoke, two-tone rim. The $600 option adds an unusual design with darkened graphite. It’s the $1500 wheel that you want. These 19-inch bronze wheels look great with the Dark Emerald paint. For an additional $595, you can get bronze-painted brakes. Black mirror caps are also available for $195.

The CT5-V Blackwing has a limited number of color options inside. Semi-aniline leather with high performance bucket seats costs $6,090. Leather is standard. The Emerald paint and bronze wheels make the tan interior look amazing. For $300, you can get a microfiber suede steering wheel and shift knob. However, we chose not to for our hypothetical build.

There are only a few options that I feel are necessary. The Driver Assist package, which costs $900 and doesn’t come as standard, adds adaptive cruise control, full speed automatic emergency brakes, and reverse automated emergency braking. For $1,010, the Parking package includes automatic parking assistance, rearview camera mirror and rear pedestrian alert.

As you can see, the dream Cadillac CT5V Blackwing is $110,810. We almost hate to admit that we chose the 10-speed automatic transmission, which adds $3175 to the original asking prices. This is not too much compared to the $125,980 asking for the fully loaded example, but it’s a 668 horsepower, green-over bronze super sedan that makes it worth the price of admission.
