You also get more comfortable seats and the double-chevron in black lacquer and chrome trim.
Citroen discontinued the “C5” brand in Europe in 2017, following the death of its midsize sedan, wagon and duo. However, the company returned the nameplate a year later with an all-new SUV. The C5 Aircross was introduced in 2017. Since then, the C5 family has expanded to include the unique C5X liftback with crossover characteristics. The time is right for the high-riding model to receive a mid-cycle facelift.
The biggest change was at the front. The C5 Aircross now has one-piece headlights, instead of split headlights that have an LED strip for daytime running lights above the main cluster. With the C4 Picasso, the second-generation French carmaker, the trend was set in modern automotive history. It appears that the C5 Aircross is now using one-piece headlights.
Citroen installed a light bar here because more cars seem to need them. But there’s a twist. Instead of a continuous line, this front fascia features two parallel lines that run in parallel. They flank the corporate badge. The chrome trim is finished with black lacquer on the double chevron logo.
The front has received additional changes, including a redesign bumper that gives the impression of a larger vehicle. This is due to the increased intake. The vertical air vents at the sides replace the prefacelift C5 Aircross square trim pieces and provide a functional role in boosting aeroflow.
At the rear, the visual changes are less apparent as the taillights remain the same size. They now have slightly different housings to improve aerodynamics and new LED graphics hidden behind the black-tinted glasses. The outside changes include new 18-inch wheels, glossy black side mirror caps and matte black roof rails.
There are many other improvements to the interior, where the center console was redesigned to allow for a freestanding display of the infotainment systems. The air vents are no longer flanking the touchscreen. They have been moved lower in order to accommodate the 10-inch display. You still have separate controls to adjust the climate, but the large knob that selects the gears has been replaced with a small switch.
The Citroen C5 Aircross has a facelift that includes a new driving mode selector, which allows you to choose between Hybrid or Electric. There is also an additional USB port and a storage compartment. The heated and massaging front seats, which were borrowed from the and C5X X, are a more significant novelty. They also have an additional 15 millimeters foam for increased comfort. You can also choose from Alcantara or perforated leather upholstery for the updated crossover.
The new Aircross will be available in Europe early in the summer. It builds on the success of its predecessor, which saw more than 260,000 copies sold.
