2022 Fiat Toro Revealed as The Ram 1000 We Won’t Get In The US

The Maverick and Santa Cruz have nothing to be concerned about.

Stellantis will be releasing a mid-cycle update to the Fiat Toro small pickup made in Brazil. It has been in Latin America since 2016, and some may know it as the Ram 1000. It measures 193.5 inches (4.915 millimeters), 72.6 inches (1,844mm) in length, and is 2.2 inches shorter than the Hyundai Santa Cruz.

The Fiat Toro will not be arriving in the United States wearing a Ram badge, but that doesn’t mean they are competing. The 2022 model year will feature updated split headlights that have the upper sections sporting a full-LED setup as turn signals and daytime running light. The fog lights can also be switched to light-emitting devices. The main clusters have a thinner profile and are equipped with LEDs in the higher-spec trim levels.

The front grille has seen a more prominent change. It now displays the Fiat logo in large letters. This is to match the corporate identity of other products from the Italian brand like the smaller Strada pickup (aka RAM 700). The facelift includes new alloy wheels, which vary in size depending on the trim.

The exterior hasn’t been changed much but the interior has undergone more substantial modifications. The portrait-styled infotainment, measuring 10.1 inches, is the most notable. It’s similar in appearance to what can be found in Ram’s American trucks. The optional touchscreen is available on the lower versions. It has a landscape display that can be viewed at either a 7.4 or 8.4 inch diagonal. The base model has a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

Fiat has also made a major update to its undercarriage, introducing a turbocharged 1.3-liter engine that runs on gasoline/ethanol. The engine produces 185 horsepower and 200 pounds-feet (270 Newton meters) of torque. It is controlled exclusively by a six-speed automatic transmission.

There are both 4×2 or 4×4 options depending on the engine. A 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine with 170 horsepower and 258 lbft (350 Nm), is the most capable in hauling. It’s connected to both axles via a nine-speed automatic.

Brazil now has the 2022 Fiat Toro. It is available with the following trim structures: Endurance and Freedom, Volcano and Ranch. Based on current exchange rates, the pricing starts at $21,000 and goes up to $34,400.
