2022 Ford Edge reportedly drops front-wheel-drive version

All of them would have all-wheel drive.

Ford is rumored to have dropped the front-wheel drive layout for the 2022 Edge. According to Ford Authorityciting insider sources, this will make all-wheel drive the default setup for all trims of the crossover.

If that is true, then the drivetrain would need to be changed. Ford refreshed the Edge just one year ago for the model year 2021. The interior is where the major changes are made. The new Edge features a 12-inch standard infotainment screen running Sync 4A software instead of the 8-inch screen that was previously available using Sync 3.

Ford adds two additional USB ports to the Edge, bringing it up to four. The Titanium Elite grade also has a new ceramic upholstery color.

The 2021 Edge’s exterior has been updated with new Lithium Gray and Carbonized Gray colors. You will also find some new wheel designs.

According to a 2020 rumor, Ford might be considering eliminating the Edge in 2023. Recent sales of the crossover have been declining. The company had delivered 42,704 units to the US as of July 2022. This was 27.1 percent less than the 58.607 units sold in the same period lastyear.

In China, Ford is currently working on a three-row Escape. Although it is a little longer than the current Escape to accommodate the extra passengers, the overall design of the Escape would be almost identical to the five-seat model. It could be launched there in the latter half of 2021 or early twenty22. According to Blue Oval, the company has no plans to bring this product to America.
