We are just a few steps away from the unveiling of the Ranger-based SUV.
The Bronco is not the only rugged SUV built on Ford’s T6 platform. Another SUV, the Everest, is also a midsize SUV. The Ford Everest, also known in other markets under the Endeavour name, is largely based upon the Ranger. This explains why it looks so similar to the global midsize truck.
The next generation 2022 Ford Ranger was already revealed. The Blue Oval will launch next the Everest, which is in line with the three row SUV’s teaser campaign, that was just released this week. Our Kolesa friends created these renderings using the camouflaged prototypes.
The Everest’s design is a reinterpretation of the Ranger. It’s not surprising that the SUV’s mid-size counterpart adopts the Ranger’s new look. The Everest is more squared-off on the corners than the previous model. This makes it appear wider and has a more imposing appearance. Ford is moving in the right direction if the production model looks this good from the beginning.
The taillight graphics of the prototype look very simple on the renderings. The squared-off shape complements the front end by amplifying the shape. The Everest is finished in chrome, as it has been for a long time. The Everest is a family vehicle, designed to be used as a lifestyle vehicle and seven-seater.
During the teaser campaign, no information was given about the engine of the Everest. It will however adopt the Ranger’s powertrain configuration. The current 2.0-liter EcoBlue Diesel engine will be retained in the 2022 Ford Ranger. It can either have a single turbo or two turbos. The US-spec Ranger will likely receive the same powertrain as the revamped model. It currently has the 2.3-liter EcoBoost gasoline motor.
The new 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine V6 is expected to power the Ranger and Everest. The automaker stated that the new engine was a Ford powerplant during the press conference. This refuted speculations that the six-cylinder from the automakers’ partnership was adopted by the automaker.
Ford has confirmed that the new Everest would be revealed fully in the first quarter 2022.
