You can choose between sporty or rugged.
Since the fourth-generation Ford Expedition was introduced in 2004, it is time for the Blue Oval’s largest SUV, to be more competitive. It is particularly important to be competitive now that the three-row family SUV must compete with the Jeep Wagoneer. Ford has mentioned this in the press release several times.
A rugged Timberline trim is new for 2022. It joins the smaller Explorer Timberline, which was unveiled in May. The off-road version is more than just adding plastic body cladding to make it look good. It also includes real upgrades that will enhance the SUV’s ability to travel on all terrains. Ford claims it is more stable than the Wagoneer’s 10 inches.
The Expedition’s jacked up version also has the underbody protection of the F150 Raptor, and the Trail Turn Assist System from the new Bronco. The Expedition sits on 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler At tires, which offer better departure and approach angles. A unique front grille and orange exterior accents make the Timberline stand out visually.
The 2022 Expedition Timberline’s power comes exclusively from the EcoBoost V6 engine, delivering 440 horsepower and 510 lbft (692 Nm) torque. Ford calls the Expedition Timberline, with its two-speed transmission case standard equipment, “most off-road-capable Expedition” ever.
Stealth Edition Performance Package is another major innovation brought about by the model-year change. The Stealth Edition Performance Package, which is not an-ST Expedition, offers a sportier version of the full-size SUV. It features a more aggressive design and stiffer suspension. You can get it on both the Limited and Limited Max models. It also has the same 440-horsepower motor.
Various glossy black accents are added to the roof rails, side mirror caps, and front grille. Stealth Edition Performance Package has a similar dark appearance for the fog lamp bezels and roof rails. Running boards, headlight and taillight housings, as well as the roof rails and running boards. The package comes on 22-inch black wheels and has contrasting red brake discs. Blue Ford logos complete the look.
The 2022 Expedition will be the next vehicle to get Ford’s BlueCruise hands free highway driving system and the SYNC 4 infotainment systems with a 12-inch screen. This touchscreen can be upgraded to a SYNC4A setup for an additional fee. It measures 15.5 inches, as in the Mustang Mach-E.
Ford Expedition’s redesigned model is expected to be available for purchase in the first quarter next year.
