The pickup was caught in the wild.
Ford Maverick First Edition details were leaked earlier in the week. However, Ford has not yet revealed what customers can expect. The pickup is expected to be available at dealers in the fall. We will have the complete rundown shortly after it goes on sale later in the year. We’ve learned a lot already, and new photos from Mavericktruckclub.com provide us with our first glimpse of the pickup in the metal, which was caught in the Las Vegas area.
The truck is identical to the marketing materials that Ford leaked earlier this week. Additionally, the Maverick is also wearing the same Area 51 exterior color. The photos show the graphic package on the doors and hood as well as the soft tonneau covers and body-color door handles. The First Edition will receive black skull caps for its side-view mirrors and a high-gloss black roof. However, this vehicle was not wearing them.
Ford has not yet specified how many First Edition models they plan to build. However, the company did receive 36,000 reservations within days of the truck’s debut. Ford’s entry-level pickup will start at less than $20,000, before any destination charges.
Ford’s tech-savvy extends to its powertrain. A hybrid 2.5-liter inline-4 provides 191 horsepower (142kilowatts), and an estimated 40 mpg in the city. These are remarkable numbers considering the price. The EcoBoost mill can be added to the mix for 250 horsepower (186 kW), but most people will be satisfied with the hybrid. We will keep an eye on Ford’s second half of the year to see if they release any details about the 2022 Ford Maverick First Edition model.
