Ford will pay $2,200 for any additional costs.
Everything with the market launch for the 2022 Ford Maverick has gone according to plan. The little truck has been in production, and should be officially available for sale within a few weeks. Ford’s latest gesture gives potential buyers of the Maverick a reason to rejoice.
A thread has emerged on the MaverickTruckClub forums that the automaker will make all wheel drive standard on models equipped with the tow package. This will be at no additional cost. Ford has sent a bulletin to dealers asking for retailers to respec and reorder FWD models with the tow package in order to include an all-wheel drive system as standard equipment. The manufacturer will cover the entire cost ($2,220 MSRP).
“Due to recent engineering evaluations and performance evaluations, it was determined to remove FWD Gas (999/4488) & 4K Towing Package (553Q) combination from 22MY Maverick offerings across all series. This particular combination was removed from dealer ordering via WBDO or CONCEPS in mid-August so that no new orders could be placed with it,” Ford’s bulletin to dealers states.
According to available information, dealers have three options. If the truck requires a front-wheel-drive, the first option is to place a new order. Dealers can cancel orders if the new specification does not meet their needs.
The 2022 Maverick’s starting price is t $19.995 (plus $1,495 destination fee) before options. This makes it a cheaper product than the Ford Model T in 1909. The 2.5-liter hybrid engine generates 191 horsepower (142kilowatts) on all trim levels. A 2.0-liter EcoBoost unit is also available, which generates 250 hp (376 kW) and 277 pounds-feet (376 Newton-meters) respectively.
