These exclusive renderings showcase a smooth small truck in F-150 style.
It’s no secret that Ford has been working on a new compact pickup truck. The Maverick tailgate image has been leaked, and we have more images of its body to get a better idea of what it will look like. To get a good idea of the final product, we combined all the leaks to create a pair Motor1.com renderings.
We have previously provided a Maverick rendering of the rear. This highlighted the tailgate. We are focusing on the front this time, showing the bold, bold grille design and headlight design, which was leaked from Ford’s Hermosillo assembly plant, Mexico. There are two options: one with a body-colored fascia, and the other with a black fascia. Ford’s larger trucks have big bumpers that are prominent from the body. However, the Maverick’s unibody design may steer the small pickup in another direction.
The Maverick’s profile, according to leaked images, will feature some ornamental trim similar the the midsize Ranger. However it won’t get a front-door notch like the F150. Our rendering shows a compact truck with smooth lines from front to back and an impressive presence. The Maverick will use the same platform as the Escape and Bronco Sports. Therefore, the body and bed will be one-piece. Rumours suggest that the Maverick will only be available in four-door trim.
We expect that powertrain options will be shared, as the Escape and Bronco sport have their bones. A turbocharged 1.5-liter three cylinder engine will be the base engine. An optional turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is available. Ford will offer all-wheel drive, although it is not known if they will offer a front-wheel drive version. Rumours also suggest that a rugged Maverick Timberline will be included in the lineup.
Ford’s first small pickup will debut in the US after the Maverick is covered. This follows the departure of the Ranger, which was a fleet vehicle, in 2012. The Maverick will be available as a 2022 model in the first half 2021.
