Indirectly replacing one appearance package is another.
The S550-generation Mustang will be going through a lot of changes in what could very well be its last model year. Ford already announced the Stealth Edition and Ice White Editions, as well as the California Special, which is fitted with the GT Performance Package. However, more changes are planned for the 2022MY Mustang. The Pony Package is also being dropped, despite the loss of 10 horsepower and 10 lbft for the GT trim.
The optional Pony Package, which was introduced in July 2017 to the 2018MY EcoBoost Premium models, costs $995 and is basically an appearance kit. The package includes 19-inch alloy wheels with polished finishes, a new front grille design featuring a pony badge, side stripes, tribar pony badge at back, and carpeted floormats with ebony-embroidered pony.
According to Ford Authority it will be gone by 2022 and being replaced indirectly with another appearance package. According to the same source, Ford will launch a Coastal Limited Package for its Mustang EcoBoost Premium. The rear-wheel-drive sports coupe with the optional kit will be fitted with 19-inch machine-faced alloys made in Tarnished Dark.
The sill plates will say “Coastal Limited”, while the front fascia will have a body-colored grille. The upgrades include body stripes, side scoops and a pedestal rear spoiler. The cost of the Coastal Limited Package is unknown. However, you will not be able order the 2022 Mustang with any of these options.
- 2.3L High Performance Package
- EcoBoost Handling Package
- Black Accent Package
- Package with Wheel and Stripe
- Stealth Package
- Ice White Appearance Pack
- Stripe with racing stripes “Over the Top”
- Spoiler-delete Option
The seventh-generation model is expected to arrive in 2023, possibly with all-wheel-drive. There are also rumors that an electric Mustang, which is not a SUV, will enter production in 2028 .
