2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 loses carbon fiber handling package

It was only possible for one year.

According to Ford Authority, the Carbon Fiber Handling Package will not be available for the 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. This is based on “sources who are familiar with the matter.” Both the Handling Package or Carbon Fiber Track Package will be available.

Motor1.com received confirmation from Ford of this information. The Carbon Fiber Handling package was limited edition and cost 21MY. A company spokesperson stated that eight new colors are available and five appearance packages are available for 22MY. This includes the Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition.

Ford introduced the carbon fiber handling package for the 2021 Shelby GT500. The $10,000 option featured 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels in black, adjustable strut top mountings, splitter wickers, and a catch can.

Carbon Fiber Track Package offered something between the Handling Packages and the Handling Package. The Carbon Fiber Handling Package was a compromise. The Handling Pack cost $1,750 and included the adjustable strut top mountings, catch can, gurney flap and splitter wickers.

The Carbon Fiber Track Pack, which included 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels and an instrument panel, was $18,500. It also includes rear seat delete, Recaro chairs, adjustable strut top mountings, a catch container, gurney flap, as well as wheel locking kit.

GT500 buyers will no longer be able to purchase the black 20-inch carbon fiber wheels due to the end of the Carbon Fiber Handling Package. Motor1.com was informed by Ford. A spokesperson for Ford told Motor1.com that they were not available without the package.

The Shelby GT500 receives the Heritage Edition for 2022. This comes in a Brittany Blue with Wimbledon White stripes on the fascia and roof. The package costs $2,140 and $12,140 if the stripes are vinyl decals.

The GT500 can also be ordered in Code Orange. It joins Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Atlas Blue Metallic and Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat.
