This summer, the updated truck will be available.
Ford’s fifth-generation Super Duty pickup was introduced for the 2017 model year. It received a minor refresh for 2020. The Blue Oval has a new update for its heavy-duty truck in 2022. However, this time it is a series of small changes that focuses on adding more tech and styling options.
SYNC 4 offers the 2022 Super Duty wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This eliminates the need for a USB connection. Ford will offer an upgraded infotainment screen, which will be positioned above a bank physical controls for common vehicle functions on Lariat models. SYNC voice control is still available on the XL with the 4.2-inch screen. SYNC 3 is an upgrade. Standard equipment on the XLT trim is an 8.0-inch screen paired up with SYNC 3.
The Lariat Sport Appearance package is new for 2022. The package adds several body-color elements, including bumpers, grille and exterior mirrors, along with a chrome exhaust tip, black platform running boards, and a chrome exhaust tip. Ford will also expand the availability of the Black Appearance package to the XLT. This adds black badges, 20 inch Ebony Black wheels and body-color bumpers and grille bars to the truck. The 2022 Super Duty will feature the Baja interior on the Lariat and the Navy Pier and Light Slate interiors on the Limited. There is also a new Atlas Blue exterior color.
Ford’s 7.3-liter V8 will continue to produce 430 horsepower (324 kilowatts), and 475 poundfeet (664 Newton meters) of torque. The 6.7-liter Power Stroke Diesel, which produces 475 HP (354 kW) as well as 1,050 lbft (1,423Nm) of torque, continues to make 430 horsepower (364 kW). The new truck will arrive this summer with the Lariat Sport Appearance Package. However, the Black Appearance Package will not reach XLT trucks until the fall.
