You know the drill: Wheels, exhaust and everything in between.
Mugen has been racing Hondas for almost 30 years. A new Civic is also in the pipeline. We will be receiving more information in September. However, Mugen has some teaser images to show what we can expect.
It is easy to identify the mild body kit. The mild body kit is basically all black except for the chin treatments and side skirts. It also includes a rear fascia to eliminate the trapezoid exhaust outlets. The Civic rides on a set new wheels and a modest spoiler is placed on the rear deck.
Mugen gives a brief description of the wheels, stating that they are made from forged aluminum and have an emphasis on sporty driving. Mugen mentions an upgrade to the exhaust system as part of this package, keeping with the same theme. The new exhaust has dual oval finishers at the back. One in each corner. This works well with the rear fascia upgrade.
This is definitely a performance-oriented design that will improve the Civic hatchback. Mugen will also offer sportmats. The company claims that they prevent outside air from entering and improve ventilation. Although we aren’t sure exactly what this means, we will take it.
Mugen does not specify whether the sedan or hatchback will be offered. We are sure there will be options for both trims. However, the new Civic Hatchback is the only model with a manual transmission so we expect it to get more attention. These modest upgrades are simple but effective for those who think the 11th-generation Civic’s styling is too conservative.
We are available to provide more information about Civic Mugen, which will be coming in September 3.
