The debut will take place on April 28.
The eleventh generation Civic was first unveiled by Honda in a prototype form back in November 2020. Now, Honda is preparing to unveil the production model. This image will suffice for now until April 28, when the full gallery and technical specifications will be available.
Here is the Touring trim, which looks almost identical to the Civic Prototype. The addition of fog lights is noticeable, as well as the removal of the glossy black accents. The production-ready model features a matte black trim for both the upper and lower grilles, as well as the air intake trim. The prototype’s dark side reflections have been replaced with body-colored caps.
The prototype’s original all-black wheels were replaced by a two-tone set. The black trim in the sides skirts and the wheel hubs are now the same color as their body. The chrome surround for the Touring model replaces the Civic Prototype’s glossy, black finish. This is all we can see at this angle. Honda will not show the interior completely redesigned, so we’ll have to stick with the design sketch that was published at the time the prototype was launched. It can be seen at the 5:55 mark of the video.
The 2022 Civic will be available at dealerships in North America this summer, following its world premiere at end of the month. The Indiana plant will produce the hatchback, which will then be added to the assembly line several months later. The five-door model will be built in Indiana for the first time since Honda closed the Swindon plant in the UK. Panattoni has already purchased the factory and it will be handed over to them next spring.
The Type R and Si performance-oriented flavors will both return. However, the coupe will be deleted from the lineup. The Civic Si sedan and TypeR hatchback have been confirmed with a manual gearbox. This means that enthusiasts have plenty to look forward too, although the spicy versions may arrive at a later time.
