The crossover is a heavy 4,647 lb (2,108 kg).
The SUV E prototype was unveiled by Honda in April at Auto Shanghai. This was to indicate an electric third-generation HRV. In October, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published images of the production model. All cars sold in the People’s Republic must go through homologation. In some cases, images of the prototype are posted on the MIIT website before the official debut.
This is true for the zero-emissions Honda HR-V. There is a countdown to the local premiere in China, ironically. The crossover is sold in the most populous country in the world through two joint ventures, the XRV and Vezel. This name is also used in Japan.
Although the HR-V has already produced EV versions in China from joint ventures, this new version is based on the latest generation. The Honda logo is hidden behind the Honda logo, so it looks quite different from the regular hybrid model. It is a Dongfeng Honda product. The badge on the tailgate right suggests that it may be called e:NS1. It is distinguished from the standard model by its clear taillights and the use of “HONDA”, lettering, instead of the badge.
According to the MIIT website documentation, the Honda e:NS1 has an electric motor that produces 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts), sufficient for a top speed at 93 mph (150 km/h). The vehicle rides on 18-inch wheels, weighs 4,647 pounds (2.108 kg), and has a 68.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
As the electric HRV is likely to remain exclusive to China, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it elsewhere. The US will receive a distinct version of the crossover that is different from the Honda model sold globally.
