Integra fans are eagerly awaiting the Acura next year.
Acura’s August announcement of the unexpected return to the “Integra” moniker was made, but Honda parent company is the first to use the famed moniker again for a production vehicle. The 2022 Honda Integra is a compact sedan from China, named after the 11th-generation Civic.
The Integra is coming from Guangqi Honda, a joint venture in China’s People’s Republic. However, the Civic on which it is based, comes from the Wuhan factory (yes, that Wuhan), part of the Dongfeng Honda joint enterprise. Although the two versions are virtually identical, the Acura version has a slimmer matrix LED headlight that is flanked by a larger grille featuring a honeycomb design.
At the rear, the LED taillights have a more defined look and take up less space. The Honda Integra has a youthful appearance thanks to its dual exhaust tips and subtle trunk lid spoiler. It is available in new colors such as Emerald Blue and Fiery Yellow, and it also has new wheel designs that can reach 18 inches.
We don’t have interior photos at the moment, but we expect the Civic to carry the cabin. Although the engine names are still unknown, the badge indicating 240 Nm (177lb-ft) on the trunk lid states that the car’s 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces in the Civic. The Civic sends 180 horsepower to the front wheels via the CVT. The CN-spec Integra is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, similar to the Civic Hatchback.
The new Honda Integra will be available for purchase by the end of this year. Pricing details will follow shortly. The Acura Integra is a five-door liftback that will be revealed in 2022.
