The new nine-speed gearbox will also be available for the SUV.
Infiniti is launching a new QX60 model for the 2022 model years. This will give the model a much-needed facelift. The luxury automaker has been teasing the new SUV with spy photos. Camouflage conceals a design that was revealed with the QX60Monograph prototype last September. Infiniti also revealed the updated powertrain including the nine-speed auto gearbox.
The engine will not be changed. 2022 QX60 will still use the 3.5-liter V6 engine, which will produce 295 horsepower (219 megawatts). Infiniti did not mention a new torque rating. However, the SUV’s current engine produces 270 pound-feet (366 Newton meters). Infiniti will combine the old mill with a new gearbox it developed with ZF. The automaker claims that the wider ratio spread, which is nearly 10 to 1, will improve acceleration feel and comfort. The brand’s continuously variable transmission will be dropped from the SUV.
Infiniti noted that the QX60 was subject to a lot of rigorous testing. It traveled hundreds of thousands of kilometers and spent thousands of hours testing it. The same diligence was evident inside with spy photographs showing a completely redesigned interior design. The dash now houses a larger, tablet-style infotainment display that is located above the HVAC vents. The modernized appearance of the center console is also evident. It appears that the interior will see a significant upgrade in quality, materials and features over its predecessor.
The Infiniti 2022 QX60 will be available in the USA and Canada later this year. However, the company claims that the unveiling will take place soon. It did not give a date. The teaser images of the QX60 show a tight camouflage wrap that reveals a bold grille and thin headlights. It also has large lower bumper intakes. This redesign of the Infiniti QX60 model is welcome.
