2022 Kia Sportage Technical Specifications and Features

Available in gasoline, diesel, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The fifth-generation Sportage was unveiled by Kia a month ago. Now the compact crossover has returned to reveal its technical specs. Keep in mind that we are dealing with the global/KDM version which has a longer wheelbase. Europe will get a model with a shorter wheelbase. The size of the rear doors can be easily identified as the LWB.

The 2022 Sportage, a stretched version of the model, measures 4660 millimeters (183.5 in) long, 1865mm (73.4in) wide, 1660mm (65.3in) high, and has a wheelbase of 2755mm (108.4in). These dimensions, along with the improved packaging of the new platform, give the compact crossover segment its best headroom, legroom and cargo capacity (637 Liters).

The turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine has 177 horsepower and 265 Newton meters (195 pound-feet). You can use it with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven speed, dual-clutch auto.

Kia will deliver the refreshed Sportage in 2021 with a 2.0-liter oil burner producing 183 horsepower and 417 Nm (308lb-ft). The diesel engine is only available with an eight-speed automatic, so you can’t row your own gears.

There are plans for additional gasoline and diesel versions, as well as hybrid and plug-in-hybrid versions that will be available. Kia will reveal details about the entire engine lineup closer to Sportage’s release. The electrified powertrains offered in the Hyundai Hyundai Tucson will be identical, if not identical.

The all-new crossover features a Terrain Mode that includes Drive, Comfort and Eco modes, Sport and Smart selectable modes, which adjust the vehicle’s settings to suit any terrain. Kia also introduced a new electronic control suspension that works in harmony with the AWD system.

The Sportage will also have an X-Line trim to match other models in the range, such as the larger Sorento. This package is essentially an offroad visual package that gives the crossover a rugged look. Customers can also opt for the GT-Line model, which has a sportier look.

Buyers can choose from various alloy wheels in different sizes, colors and finishes. The cabin will have two 12-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment touchscreen. The 2022 Sportage has a smaller shift-by-wire transmission dial and is available with Harman Kardon’s sound system.

Later this year, the new Sportage will be available worldwide. Kia will also introduce the Euro-spec version.
