It’s back and better than ever.
As the Korean automaker’s offer to the sports car market, the original Kia Stinger was launched in 2018. The Korean Car blog reported recently that the 2022 model-year Stinger is returning to the United States.
We must mention that TKCB claims all this information to be 100% accurate and has been verified by a Kia source. The latest Stinger model is expected to be a contender in the U.S. lineup of sports cars. What’s new?
The hood is the focal point of the new vehicle. The factory’s base vehicle will be equipped with a turbocharged 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). This translates into 45 hp (34kW) more than the 2.0-liter engine in the previous model. However, the increase in power comes at a cost. The rear-wheel-drive model will start at $37,135 while all-wheel drive will cost $39,335
The baseline GT model is gone from the 2022 lineup. Instead, the GT1 and GT2 models will be available. Both use an evolution of the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 that produces 368 horsepower (274 kW) The mechanically identical vehicles are almost identical, but the GT1 to GT2 upgrade includes an upgraded sound system and electronically controlled suspension.
Mechanical semantics is a topic we could continue to discuss, but the Stinger has more to it than just what’s under the skin. Additional features include a keyfob remote control, interior ambient lighting, quilting designs, and 18-inch or 19-inch wheels. A variety of safety features are included, including a blind spot camera display, junction-turn collision avoidance, safe exit assistance, highway driving aid, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist.
Many people would argue that there are too many options in the sports car market, even before considering the Stinger. They would be correct, but there is a new kid on campus and he is clearly here to stay.
