The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover brings the luxury SUV to its fifth generation. The new model retains its classic appearance, but has smoother lines to keep it modern. The automaker also loaded it with the most recent technology.
Get a Fresh Look
Land Rover’s MLA Flex platform is used to transport the new Range Rover. Buyers have the option of choosing between short- or long-wheelbase options. It’s possible to have four, five, or seven-seat configurations depending on trim level and buyer preference.
The new Range Rover’s design is a modernization of the existing model, but it simplifies down to the essential aspects. The smooth design is highlighted by the smooth transition between the glass and the door’s rounded edges. These small details give the large model an impressive drag coefficient just 0.30.
The Ride
Range Rover’s adaptive air suspension features a new five link rear axle. The navigation system adjusts the system for the roads ahead. The adaptive cruise control and steering assistance are also available to help smoothen things out, depending on the tech.
Comfortable riding is also made possible by the electronically controlled active anti-roll bar. Land Rover claims that they respond faster than a hydraulic layout. The system can generate up to 1,033 pounds of torque (1,400 Newton-meters), against the body.
All-wheel steering is available on the new Range Rover. This allows the vehicle to move its rear wheels at a maximum of 7.3 degrees. It also improves the vehicle’s maneuverability. This system reduces the vehicle’s turning circle to less than 36.09 feet (11 meter).
Powertrains
European buyers have many engine options. They can choose from three gasoline-powered powerplants or three diesel engines. The launch American model has only two options for powertrains. For the 2023 model year, the US will have two powertrain options: the plug-in hybrid P440e with 434 horsepower (324 kW), and the P440e with 324 hp (32 kW). The fully electric option will be available in 2024.
All Range Rovers have all-wheel drive, and an active locking rear differential that balances the torque side to side.

Europe’s PHEV versions combine the 3.0-liter inline six engine with a 38.2-kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery (31.8 kWh). The electric motor, 141-hp (105 kW), is integrated into the transmission. In 5.3 seconds, the P510e PHEV can reach 60 mph (96 kph), and 62 mph (100.6 kph), in 5.6 seconds. Land Rover claims a WLTP range of 62 miles (100 km) on electric power and a range of 50 miles (80 km) in real-world conditions.
Step inside
Drivers look inside at a 13.7 inch digital instrument cluster. A 13.1-inch touchscreen information screen is located in the center stack. It has haptic feedback to confirm that you are using the software. The back seats can be equipped with a pair 11.4-inch entertainment screens that attach to the seatbacks. The Executive Class Rear Seats are available with an 8.0-inch touchscreen at the center armrest.
The Range Rover must be rugged and luxurious. The Autobiography trim’s 35-speaker, 1,600 watt Meridian Signature Sound System has noise-canceling to improve the cabin’s quietness. Land Rover mounts two 20-watt speakers in each of the four main headrests. This creates an effect similar to high-end headphones.
What do you want?
This luxurious SUV is available in SE, HSE and SV trims. The Autobiography also comes in a First Edition model that features the Sunset Gold Satin exterior paint. You can see it in the photos above.
The SV trim level is the most expensive, but it won’t be available in the US until 2023. It will also not be available in both short- and long-wheelbase body sizes. There will be several design themes available, including the SV Serenity and SV Intrepid as well as the four-seat SV Signature Suite.
