The debut is likely to take place towards the end.
As more sightings have increased this year of the prototype, it is clear that the next-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is in development. The Sport Leicht’s sleek body is shown in this set of spy photos.
Two models were seen in the set, which was sent by our spy. The one with more skin is the hotter model with quad exhaust pipes sticking out the back. It looks similar.
The one we saw at Nurburgring Last month, but with a soft black top rather than a red one These photos are very similar to the prototype that we took early in the year. They were taken while we did some cold weather testing. These images look almost like they were taken from a press release.
We now have some information about the upcoming SL based on recent release data from the German automaker. The next SL will replace the SLC and S-Class Convertible, while it combines with the AMG GT Roadster to create a single 2+2 model. AMG has been developing the roadster from day one. We can expect nothing less in terms performance.
Affalterbach unveiled the lightweight bodyshell for the upcoming SL in May. It will be made of aluminum, steel and magnesium and fiber composites. This combination keeps things light and maximizes rigidity. This structure will be 18 percent stiffer than the one it replaces.
Mercedes revealed the leather-lined interior for the SL and its 2+2 layout – first time since 1989, when it was the R129 model. For now, the most distinctive cabin feature is the tiltable infotainment screen, which can be tilted forward to reduce glare from the top.
The new Mercedes SL will be unveiled by the end the year. Sales will begin in 2022.
