Premium hot hatch does not get any power boost.
Mini announced its updated model lineup for the model year 2022 in January. Today, the John Cooper Works was briefly mentioned. The British automaker released additional details about the new premium hot hatch. Below is a gallery of almost 60 photos that was attached to the press release.
The exterior’s front end is a combination of cuteness and aggression thanks to the hexagonal radiator grille and the LED round headlights. The bumper’s larger air openings create a dynamic appearance while also providing optimal temperature control for the brakes and powertrain. Redesigned are the little model-specific side scuttles located on the front panels.
The most notable innovation inside the cabin is probably the updated infotainment software. It now has prettier graphics and runs on a new version of the system. The JCW now has the Live Widgets for the first time. These widgets can be selected using a swipe motion on the touch screen. A number of new surfaces have been added, as well as some new ambient lighting options.
The engine has not been modified and the Mini John Cooper Works is still powered by the 2.0-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine. It produces 231 horsepower (170kilowatts), and 236 pound feet (320 Newton-meters). The 2022 Mini JCW can sprint to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) with the six-speed manual in just 6.3 seconds. The acceleration time will drop to 6.1 seconds if you choose the optional eight speed automatic.
The JCW has a new adaptive suspension option for the 2019 model year. This adds an extra valve to reduce pressure peaking in the damper during driving over small bumps. Mini claims this will create an “optimized blend of sportiness and ride confort.”
