2022 Nissan Z has 400 HP and costs $34,995

It is simply known as the Z.

Although Nissan has been very secretive about the rear-wheel-drive sportscar, it is now clear that the cat is out of the bag if someone claims to know. A member of the 400Z Club forums claims that the new performance coupe will be called “Z” everywhere, except in Japan, where it will be known as the “Fairlady Z.”

The 2022 Nissan Z is expected to start at $34,995, making it more affordable than the GR Supra 2.0 (42,990) and the BMW Z4 sDrive30i (49,700), both of which have 2.0-liter engines with 255 horses. The 370Z replacement will have 400 horsepower, which is more than the Supra 3.0 (50,990) or the BMW Z4 (63,700), both of which have 382-hp inline-six engines.

The same source claims that the new Z will receive the long-rumored VR30DDTT motor from the Q60 Red Sport. We know that the Infiniti’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 can produce 350 pound-feet (or 475 Newton-meters) of torque. The 370Z will keep the six-speed manual gearbox, while the automatic will use a torque-converter variant, specifically a Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic.

The 2022 Nissan Z is expected to weigh in at 3,252 pounds (1.475 kilograms dry), according to reports. This will be for the base model with the stick-shift. The hotter Nismo variant, internally called a “baby GT-R”, will follow. It is said to offer more than just a bodykit and an exhaust.

The standard Z will now offer Type S and Type T packages starting at $5,000 each. The first includes Brembo brakes and thicker sway bars. The latter comes with additional content and heated and cooled electrically-adjustable seats.

The Type ST will be the most expensive Z package. It will add $10,000 to your final bill by combining the Type S and Type T packages. All Z models will come with a fully digital instrument cluster and infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a rear duckbill, regardless of their configuration. These are the very same spy shots that we took a few days back.

According to the same source, it is a 370Z with an engine kit and a VR30 swap. The chassis was heavily modified (more aluminum and bracing, carbon fibre). The new Z will only be a coupe, as there is no plan for another roadster.

The colors will essentially be the same as the 370Z but with new shades of yellow and orange. This is something Nissan is “so proud to have.” The 400Z Club member indicates that the car was originally supposed to go on sale in spring 2022. However, it has been fast-tracked and is expected to launch in late 2021.

We recommend that you take this information with a pinch of salt. However, we must admit that it sounds quite wonderful.
