The 2022 price tag for all 911 models is higher, but the tech you get is better.
After a long build-up period that included spy photos and video, Porsche finally revealed the 992-series 911 GT3 on February 20, 2021. The automaker promised that pricing information would be forthcoming, and it has. It was expected to be expensive, with an MSRP at $161,100. This is significantly higher than the GT3. This does not include the $1,350 handling and destination fees.
What is the difference? We’re talking about a $17,000. Price jump from the outgoing model, which was $143,600 including fees. This is the equivalent to a fully-equipped Honda Fit. However, the GT3 offers significant upgrades over its predecessor.
Under the big wing is still the delightful 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six, but it produces 502 horsepower (374kilowatts) and is almost identical to the older model. The major changes are in the underpinnings. This includes a race-derived suspension setup, and larger brakes that allow it to turn the Nurburgring in less than seven minutes. There is also more technology in the cockpit.
Porsche also announced the expansion of its connected services for the entire 911 line. Porsche Communication Management, the latest generation from the automaker, will be featured on the sports car. It offers a touchscreen interface that is based on the Taycan and is available for both driver and passenger. The connected services trial period will now be extended to three years. The 911 Carrera’s base cost rises to $101,200. Similar year-over-year increases are seen in other 911 trims.
911 Turbo S Cabriolet continues to be the range-topping 911. It boasts a twin-turbocharged flat-six 3.8-liter engine that produces 640 horsepower (477 kW). The price of the GT3 is up to $219,800 for 2022. Porsche claims that the GT3 will be available in dealerships by this fall.
