2022 Porsche 911 GTS Debuts, Packs More Power Than Carrera S

Deliveries begin in the first quarter of next year.

There are many variants of the Porsche 911, which give customers a variety of options for spending their money. Customers will soon have the option of a GTS, a new 911 model. It will be between the Carrera S model and the Turbo model. The GTS offers a little more power than the S, along with some other performance enhancements.

The GTS trim’s heart is Porsche’s 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with twin-turbocharged 473 horsepower (352 Kilowatts) and 569 Newton-meters (420 pound-feet) of torque. This engine produces 30 horsepower more than the Carrera S, and 23 horsepower more than the 911 GTS. It can be paired with either the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic (PDK) or the 7-speed manual. Porsche reduced the manual shifter by 10 mm (0.39 inches), to make it more responsive for faster shifts.

Porsche offers the Carrera GTS with rear- or all-wheel drive in coupe and cabriolet styles. However, the Targa 4 GTS only comes in AWD. Porsche claims that the Carrera 4 GTS can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.1 seconds when equipped the the automatic gearbox. Prices are as follows (excludes $1,350 destination fee)

  • 911 Carrera GTS – $136,700
  • 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet – $149,500
  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS – $144,000
  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet – $156,800
  • 911 Targa 4 GTS – $156,800

With its darkened or black exterior details, the 911 GTS will be a standout among other 911 models. The GTS script is added to the rear doors and trunk. Targa 4 GTS gets a darker Targa bar with lettering. Darkened light surrounds are also available for GTS models. They include standard LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus and darkened rear lights.

The GTS includes the GT Sport steering wheels, the Sport Chrono pack, and the Porsche Track Precision application. Also standard are the Sport Seats Plus, which have four-way adjustable side support. Carbon-fiber trim contrasts the Race-Tex material on the steering wheel rim, seat centers, door handles and armrests. The 2022 911 GTS comes with the most recent generation of Porsche Communication Management infotainment software.

GTS is more than a better look and more power. Porsche modified the suspension to lower the ride height by 10 millimeters and increase its stopping power. The 911 Turbo’s high-performance braking system is used in the GTS. Porsche also offers the GTS an optional Lightweight package, which can reduce weight up to 55 pounds (24.95 kg). This is possible thanks to lighter carbon-fiber bucket seats and lightweight glass. Rear seats can also be removed.

Expect the first US deliveries to begin in 2022.
