2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Launches with 590 HP and Sport Turismo Wagon

It sits between the Turbo and 4S, while introducing the road-focused Sport Turismo.

The Taycan lineup is expanding to include more trims and body styles. This is similar to the 911, which is available in many different derivatives. The GTS is a new model for 2022, which sits between the 4S Turbo and Turbo and mirrors the rear engined sports car. The front fascia of this electric sedan is standard. It also inherits the glossy black side skirts.

Side skirts feature GTS logos, while the diffuser at the back has a glossy black inlay. Porsche installs 20-inch wheels to update the Taycan members. Turbo S Aero Design wheels in satin black that you won’t find on any other model. The logo of Aero Design is embedded in the LED strip at the rear. It’s finished in black just like the matte black badge on trunk lid, matrix headlights and base of side mirror caps.

Let’s talk about power. The 4S below has 462 horsepower, while the Turbo above comes with 670 HP. However, the GTS is a middleweight with 590 HP (with launch control), which allows for a sprint of 60 mph in just three and a quarter seconds. To echo the Turbo and Turbo S, the dual-motor, all wheel-drive sedan comes standard with the 93.4.kWh battery. It can be charged at up to 22.5 kilowatts, allowing it to go from a charge of 5 percent to 80 percent in just 22 minutes.

Porsche engineers took the adaptive air suspension from Taycan Turbo to adapt it for tuning and calibration. The 4S’s six-piston front brake calipers are combined with 390mm front rotors, which is 30 mm more than the 4S. The rotors at the back are the same size as before, 358 mm. The optional carbon-ceramic setup is available for superior stopping power.

The Taycan family has finally added a Sport Turismo version to its lineup without the heavy suspension and wheel arch cladding from the Cross Turismo. The GTS sedan has a similar ride height to the Sport Turismo version. This allows for a lower center-of-gravity, which makes it more sporty on the road. You can also distinguish it from the SUV-inspired model by looking at the rear spoiler. It is now the same color as all the body.

Similar to the Cross Turismo you can also get its road-focused sibling, the Cross Turismo with a glass roof. However, there is also a new panoramic rooftop that features variable light control. It has nine liquid crystal film segments on the roof, and four modes to choose from. The default setting is matte when the car is turned off. You can also get it for the sedan, giving you the option to choose from Clear, Matte (40 percent), Semi (40%) and Bold (60%).

The third Porsche Taycan body style can optionally be fitted with roof rails or the rear-mounted bike rack from Tequipment. Both GTS versions can be ordered, and customer deliveries will begin in the second quarter 2022. The market launch will be closer.

The 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sedan costs $131,400. This is reasonable considering that the Turbo starts at $150,900 and the 4S starts at $103,800. The Sport Turismo GTS spec will cost you $133,300 plus $1,350 for delivery fees.
