This brings about some significant changes to the commercial vehicle line-up. A Crew Van configuration, which can carry three people in the second row, has been added to the vehicle’s mechanical and technological specifications.
The biggest change was made inside the cabin, where the ProMaster switches from Uconnect5 to offer a choice of 7- or 10-inch touchscreens. The driver’s screen can also be upgraded to a standard 3.5-inch display or to a fully-color 7-inch display with reconfigurable options. This is a major upgrade from the 2021MY.
A nine-speed automatic transmission from the ProMaster City replaces the six-speed manual and increases fuel economy by nine per cent. It uses the same Pentastar V6 engine producing 280 horsepower (364 kilowatts), and 260 pound feet (364 Newton-meters). The Ram ProMaster’s engine, unlike the rear-wheel-drive Ford Transit sends power to its front axle.
The van has a push-button engine start and keyless entry. The van also has an electric parking brake and electric rack-and pinion power steering, which allows for variable steering assistance. Ram briefly mentioned that a zero-emissions ProMaster would be available in 2023. More details will follow closer to the market launch.
The workhorse also comes with an upgraded infotainment and a lot more tech. Ram comes with a wide range of safety equipment, including Full Speed Forward Collision Warning and Crosswind Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and Post-Collision Braking. Buyers can also choose Lane Keep Assist and Intelligent Speed Assist for an additional fee.
The 2022 Ram ProMaster is available with a 360-degree camera system, front parking sensors, a digital rearview mirror, and hands-on/eyes-on semi-autonomous driving. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can be used. A wireless charging pad is available with two USB Type C ports and an optional 115-volt/150 watt outlet.
The revised ProMaster will be available at Ram dealers in the fourth quarter. There are 18 options available. These include three wheelbases and two roof heights. You can choose from six different models of high-roof cargo vans with the Crew Van Package.
