2022 Subaru Ascent Onyx Edition Starting at $37,995 for More Modern Looks

Option packs add navigation and a panoramic sunroof

The brand has now officially unveiled the rugged-looking model, shortly after it teased the 2022 Subaru Ascent Onyx Edition. It starts at $37.995 plus a $1.125 destination fee.

The Ascent Onyx edition slots between the Premium grade at $36,255 and Limited at $39,595. The Onyx comes with all the Premium equipment, including blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alarm, as well as eight-way power driver seats, second-row automatic climate controls, heated front seats, heated lenses, and a windshield wiper.

The Onyx has black exterior trim, including badges and 20-inch black wheels. The cabin features Subaru’s StarTex(r), a water-repellent material for upholstery, and a heated steering column. Reverse automatic braking, hands free power hatchback, keyless entry with push-button starting, and hands-free power hatchback are all included in the model. Only seven seats are available, but other grades can accommodate eight people.

An option package for the Onyx costs $2,200. The package includes a panoramic moonroof and a Starlink infotainment system with 6.5-inch Starlink. It also has a retractable cargo cover.

The powertrain for the Onyx is the same as the Ascent. The flat-four engine of 2.4-liters produces 260 horsepower (194 Kilowatts) as well as 277 pound-feet (376 Newton meters) of torque. The engine can be converted from a CVT to an automatic all-wheel-drive system. It can tow up 5,000 pounds (2.268 kg).
