2022 Subaru Forester Facelift in Japan with New Headlights

The mid-cycle update also includes new colors and improved safety tech.

The fifth-generation Subaru Forester was unveiled in March 2018. With product life cycles decreasing, it’s not surprising that the refreshed version will be available in Japan. The most notable change to the compact crossover is at the front, where you will notice the new headlights with a more upright design.

The cosmetic surgeon has seen the front bumper and noticed a protrusion just below the reshaped headlight. This is where the washer is located. Although the grille appears to be smaller than it was before, it has a U-shaped flat pattern. The Subaru logo is adorned with metallic ornaments. There are two types of fog lights: one that is vertical and one that is round, depending on which trim level. Both have LEDs.

The rear end is only shown in one image. This may be because the JDM-spec Forester appears almost exactly the same as before. The taillight graphics are updated mid-cycle, but the rear clusters remain the same as the model before the facelift. Subaru has added three new colors to its local crossover. They are offering 18-inch wheels in new colors and a range of trim levels (Touring, X-Break and Advance).

The cabin of the 2022 Forester is much the same as before but has new upholstery options. The EyeSight has also been updated with a wider angle stereo camera and better-optimized software. Subaru has made improvements to the suspension on all trims in order to improve comfort. The eActive Shift Control will now be available on all models equipped with the eBoxer hybrid engine.

Subaru has already accepted preorders for its JDM-spec Forester. We expect the North American equivalent for the 2022 model years to be revealed in the coming weeks. It is expected that the prototype will be officially unveiled sooner than anticipated, as it was spotted in America back in December 2020.

The US-spec Forester will get the turbocharged 1.8 liter gasoline engine that is available in Japan on the Sport model. It has 174 horsepower (130 Kilowatts) as well as 221 pound feet (300 Newton-meters). The engine produces 45 lb-ft (61 Nm), more torque than the 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, and has better low-end response due to forced induction.
