The Subaru Levorg will get WRX power next season. It will be the successor to the WRX Wagon if it does.
Subaru has not made an Impreza WRX wagon for many years. It passed the baton to Levorg’s previous generation with its 2.0-liter turbo. Even the Japanese version of Levorg’s 2.0 turbo engine made 300 horsepower. It was unfortunately discontinued after the launch of the second-generation Levorg last year.
The Levorg does not currently have a high performance derivative. A 1.8-liter turbo is the only engine option for this wagon. The CB18 is more efficient than its predecessor. Its 174 horsepower rating will not set pulses pounding. Subaru may inject some adrenaline into its station wagon, according to Australian news.
CarExpert reports that the Levorg will be offered with the 2.4-liter turbo engine from the newly-launched 2022 WRX. There’s a good chance that this will happen, too. CarExpert quoted Subaru Australia as saying, “The Levorg has proved itself to be a niche performance wagon and will evolve into something slightly more in its next generation.”
The WRX’s 2.4-liter turbo produces 271 horsepower (202 Kilowatts) as well as 258 lb-ft (349 Newton meters). The WRX can be ordered with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a more powerful continuously variable transmission, which Subaru calls Subaru Performance Transmission.
There is also the possibility that the Levorg’s 2.4-liter engine might be tuned. It could be the Legacy or Ascent version. The power rating for these two models is 260 horsepower (190 Kilowatts) as well as 277 pound-feet (376 Newton meters). The six-speed manual WRX Levorg seems unlikely. This is because the manual was not available on the previous-generation Levorg. A CVT is more likely.
There is no official confirmation of a 2.4-liter Levorg, and Subaru doesn’t know which version it will choose. We will only know when it makes its Australian debut.
