Alternative to the more traditional C-HR.
When the Toyota Corolla Cross was first introduced overseas in 2020, we’ve seen photos and read more about it. The small crossover will now be available in the USA with unique styling, two drive types and several trim options. It does not have the hybrid powertrain of the European model, at least not yet.
In the right configuration, the Corolla Cross can tow 1,500 pounds (680 kg) and, even with all-wheel drive it still returns remarkable fuel economy. The AWD models get 30 mpg while the front-drive model gets 32 mpg. Although the Hyundai Venue returns the same figures, the Nissan kicks still ranks highest with 33 mpg when combined with standard FWD.
The three trims available to buyers are L, LE and XLE. Each has its own set of features. The L base model has standard 17-inch steel wheels. The XLE model gets a set of 18-inch alloys. Each trim has a different interior. The LE and XLE models come with SofTex faux leather seats.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard on all Corolla Cross models. It includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and nine airbags throughout.
We don’t yet know how much the new Toyota Corolla Cross is going to cost. We expect Toyota will price the base L model at less than $20,000 considering its segment, while the LE or XLE models will likely be in the mid to high-$20,000s.
Update: Toyota teased the Corolla Cross Hybrid at a presentation with media. They said that “more would come next year.” This has been corrected.
