2022 Toyota Land Cruiser, Confirmed with 10-Speed Auto, TNGA–F Platform

As new technical specifications have been leaked, we also discover the SUV’s dimensions.

Leaks of the Land Cruiser LC300 continue to pour in ahead of a rumored Toyota flagship SUV official debut scheduled for May 31st or June 1. These documents are from South Africa and provide details about the vehicle’s dimensions. confirmation is also available regarding the transition to the TNGA F platform and a 10-speed auto gearbox.

The new model will be approximately 4,965 millimeters in length (195.4 inches) for GR Sport and a little longer for ZX trim levels at 4,985 mm (196.2 inches). It measures 1,945mm (76.5in) high, an increase of 35mm (1.4 in), over its predecessor. The most sporty trim level measures 1,990mm / 78.3in (1,980mm / 78.0for the ZX), and both have a wheelbase of 2,850mm (112.2 in).

Toyota was able reduce the fuel tank capacity by switching to V6 engines that are more efficient and can save up to 15 liters. This allows for better packaging. The aluminum roof further reduces weight. Ground clearance remains the same. The approach and departure angles are also carried over from LC200.

The new Land Cruiser is mechanically similar to the teased 2022 Tundra. Additionally, the body-on frame pickup will also be switching to the TNGA F architecture. It could have the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 409 horsepower (305 kilowatts), and 480 pound feet (650 Newton-meters) like the LC300. Toyota’s flagship SUV will also get a 3.3-liter diesel engine V6 that produces 302 horsepower (225 kW) as well as 516 lbft (700Nm).

We expect the Tundra to follow the Land Cruiser shortly, and it will be available soon after its official debut at the beginning of June. The pickup will be coming to North America after the LC200 model year. However, it is not clear if the SUV-like version of the pickup will make its way back to the US.
