2022 Toyota Tundra Channels Ford Raptor in New ‘Coming Soon” Teaser

Can the Tundra, the next generation of pickup trucks, take over Detroit’s dominance?

A new Toyota Tundra is coming. We have seen glimpses of camouflaged prototypes , and leaked shots showing the full-size truck’s headlights. We were expecting Toyota’s next-gen Tundra to be revealed this year. Now, we have a teaser.

This is the Tundra’s first teaser. As the image above shows Toyota is pushing the Tundra as a powerful machine. The grille’s three orange lights are straight out of the Ford F-150 Raptor’s handbook. There’s enough lighting to light up a tick on a trail at night. They appear to be identical to the leaked images so it is possible they are real. These renderings show how the truck may look after it is revealed. While it can be recognized as a Tundra it’s definitely an interesting look.

Toyota has done an admirable task of keeping the details about the next-generation pickup secret, despite leaked images. We have heard rumors that a twin-turbocharged V6 will be under the hood and will ride on Toyota’s TNGA F body-on-frame platform. It is being touted by Toyota dealerships as a great deal , with best-in class attributes. Of course dealerships will also be excited.

Sales will be the final word. The current Tundra isn’t a leader in this area. In 2020, just over 100,000 trucks were sold. This was also true in pre-COVID 2019. Toyota must update the Tundra, which has a history dating back to 2007, if it wants to compete with GM, Ram and Ford for market share. Toyota tells us that the new truck will be coming soon, but it usually takes weeks, if not days, to reveal the details.
