Toyota is redefining the Tundra in places that matter.

Technically, the new 2022 Toyota Tundra has been seen in all its glory. Toyota released a single image of the truck’s full-body on Twitter after a leaked image was discovered. Toyota is slowly leaking details about the truck ahead of its debut later in the year. The TRD Pro’s variable drive modes were shown in the latest video, while the teaser that preceded it showed us the truck’s massive sunroof.

The latest Tundra photo shows a leafless rear suspension. The current Tundra has a traditional rear axle with trapezoid multi-leafsprings. This is similar to the ones found on trucks such as the Ford F-150 or the Chevrolet Silverado. However, the new layout promises better articulation. This means that even the most tough Tundra should be capable of keeping up with trucks such as the Raptor, and its independent rear suspension.

Toyota is not yet clear on details such as whether the leafless rear suspension will come standard on the base model, or if it will only be available for the TRD Off Road and Pro models. The suspension will set a new standard for both on- and offroad performance, according to Toyota. With all of the new off-road-specific goodies, the Tundra should be more adept at handling tough terrain.

Tundra TRD Pro will feature a dedicated Multi Terrain Select tool that offers various options such as Downhill Assist Control/ Crawl, Tow/ Haul and standard Drive Mode. We also know that the Tundra will have a digital instrument cluster that can be customized within that screen. Although it is not yet clear what power it might have, we expect the Land Cruiser’s twin-turbocharged V6 to be under the hood.
We will soon have all the details on the 2022 Toyota Tundra’s suspension, engine, drive modes and more.
