2022 VW Passat Limited Edition: The End Of US Production

Only 1,973 are being produced by the company.

The 2022 Volkswagen Passat Limited Edition celebrates the completion of the assembly for the German brand’s sedan in America. This special model is finished by the company. It has built just 1,973 units, which refers to the year the vehicle was first launched in Germany.

The brand will be building 411 examples in Aurora Red Metallic and Titan Black interior. This is the original vehicle production code for Passat.

There are 423 models in Racing Green Metallic with a Mauro brown cabin. VW manufactures the American Passat in Chattanooga (Tennessee), and this number is the area code.

The company will produce 524 units in a Pure White body with Mauro Brown interior. This is the Chattanooga factory’s opening date of May 24, 2011.

There are 615 examples available in Platinum Grey Metallic and a Titan Black interior. This number represents six generations worth of Passats imported into America, one in the US and five decades of US sales.

All Passat Limited Editions come with 18-inch wheels, black mirror caps and power-folding sidemirrors. On the inside, the seat tags have a “1 Of 1973” emblem and “Chattanooga 2011”. A special mat is located at the bottom of cupholders. It shows Chattanooga’s aerial map and draws the factory from the top.

Limited Editions include comfort sport seats with Vienna leather perforation, driver seat memory and a power-adjustable seat for the passenger. Each row of seats is heated. Standard features include navigation, Fender stereo and front and back parking assistance.

The 2022 Passat Limited Edition starts at $30,295 plus a $995 destination charge. For $30,690, you can get 411 units in Aurora Red Metallic for an additional $395.

VW introduced the Passat to Europe in 1973. It was then brought to America in 1974 as the Dasher model. In the US, the company called the second-gen version Quantum. This vehicle was not given the Passat name until 1990. VW created a Passat-specific model for the US market in 2011, which was bigger than its European counterpart.
