2023 BMW 7 Series: First Look Inside the Cabin

The iX has a dual-screen setup.

Remember the next-gen BMW 7 Series prototype we showed to you yesterday. Well, it’s back. Our spy team was able to get a glimpse inside this time. It’s not our first time looking inside the cabin. Previous spy shots had shown that the interior was mostly hidden, or that it belonged to a test muet with most of its parts taken from the current-gen 7.

You’ll notice the side-by-side screens that are similar to those found in the i4 Gran Coupe. The 12.3-inch instrument cluster is accompanied by a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment that runs on iDrive8. The screens are enclosed within a large piece of curved glass that is slightly tilted in the direction of the driver, much like the EVs.

It is very interesting, with the industrial-looking lower spoke made of metallic and adorned with the M badge at its bottom. Although we aren’t sure, the lateral spokes may have touch-sensitive controls. If the autonomous driving system is activated, you’ll see that the sides of your steering wheel’s rim are curved.

Although the lower console housing the iDrive controller isn’t as elegant as the iX prototype, it is important to remember that we are only dealing with a prototype. Another image of the 7 Series’ interior shows that the central armrest and the rest the console look cheap. However, you won’t find this in the final production car.

According to a report, the 7er will get its first official preview in September at the IAA in Munich. BMW is rumored to bring a concept vehicle. We know that the production version will arrive sometime in 2022. It will come with gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains. However, it won’t have a V12 engine as the M760i has been retired.
