The grille has been redesigned with Y-shaped inserts.

BMW M will be celebrating its 50th th anniversary with the M3 CS, M4 CSL, which are expected to have more power, lighter weight, and better aero. Two-door BMW M4 Coupe has been seen in traffic in Germany with an impressive amount of camouflage. This indicates that there are important improvements over the standard M4 Coupe.

Although the controversial front grille is still the same in size and shape, it has been updated with new Y-shaped elements that are finished in glossy black. The model’s designation is found in the right kidney, along with the letters “M4” and a few smaller characters that are hidden under the black tape. These may be Coupe Sport Leichtbau (Lightweight).

BMW also changed the front bumper. The standard M4’s air intakes have been split into two sections, making the front fascia look much more aggressive. Although the CSL will bring the first M-designed headlights to market, it’s unlikely that this is limited to graphics. The cluster appears identical to a regular M4.

The same story is at the back, where the taillights are the same shape but with new LED elements that are better visible in images of the prototype as the test driver brakes. The trunk lid has a larger spoiler than the M Performance option. It doesn’t look as bulky as the M3-M4-M4-M4-M4-M4-M4-M4-M4-M4-M4-M5D. The CSL does not have the stacked exhaust tips in the center, which is an option on the regular model. We think it’s for better.

The M4 Competition has a healthy 503 horsepower. However, the CSL will likely be increased to 540 hp and sent to the rear wheels. BMW seems to have ruled out an xDrive model. The hotter M4 may be an auto-only model in the same vein of the M3 CS. Both will receive a lot of carbon fiber bits to reduce weight. The M4 CSL is likely to be on a stricter diet in order to live up its badge.

BMW plans to launch production of the M4 CLSL in July 2022. This could mean that an official debut could occur in the first month of next year.
