2023 Ford Mondeo/Fusion Spied Completely Camo Free In Michigan

This sedan is unlikely to be available in the United States.

Ford has been developing a Fusion and Moto sedan replacement. However, leaked photos make it less secretive. Ford seems to be saying that it’s too late to keep the secret. New spy photos have shown the sedan being tested in Dearborn, Michigan.

As the leaked photos showed, the car is identical to the Chinese model. However, the leaked photos also revealed subtle styling differences between the trims. The front bumper of the uncovered test vehicle has a simple lower grille opening, that does not connect to the headlights. We have seen this before. The rear valance and side sills are slightly different, but these seem to be minor trim variations.

The new Mondeo/Fusion is strikingly similar to last year’s Ford Evos crossover, which transforms the car into a wagon-like crossover. The Evos will be Europe’s Mondeo, and America’s new Fusion. This means that the Chinese sedan version seen here is unlikely to make it to the US. Although the Evos has its own front bumper and rear-end design both share much.

The new Ford’s powertrain details are still unknown, but the Mondeo seen in spy photos is sporting badges that suggest a 245-horsepower (182-kilowatts) 2.0-liter engine under the hood. Ford could pack a variety powertrains into this model, including hybrids and all-electrics, but no evidence has been found.

Ford may have dropped the sedan market in America by discontinuing Fusion and other models, but it won’t completely abandon that segment. The Mondeo production in Europe is set to stop in March. This will leave a spot for the new Ford model in Ford’s European lineup. It might get both the sedan and crossover versions. The Mondeo sedan is unlikely to be available in Europe.
