It will be available for purchase in February.
It pays to watch closely livestreams as automakers discreetly insert a tidbit every so often. Ford introduced a QR code at the end of the 2022 Ranger’s debut event. This takes you to an obscure page on the Australian company’s website, where the Raptor is being teased. We finally managed to get the embed code after (desperately), spending half an hour trying to find it.
The world premiere of the high-performance version will be held in February 2022. We don’t hear the twin-turbodiesel engine from the US four-cylinder Ranger Raptor. Instead, the soundtrack is coming from a larger V6 gasoline engine with two turbos.
Globally, the standard next generation Ranger will come with two 2.0-liter four cylinder diesels. One of these diesels will have two turbos. The other diesel will have a 3.0-liter V6 engine at the top. A 2.3-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine will also be offered. The Raptor will use either the 2.7-liter twin turbo V6 from Bronco, or the 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 from Explorer ST.
It should have a powertrain that produces 330 horsepower and 415 pounds-feet (563 Newton meters) of torque using premium fuel, and 315 hp (405 lbft) using regular fuel. Ford could choose to use the Explorer ST’s heart. It packs a stronger 400 hp, 415 lbft (563Nm) on premium fuel.
It has been seen testing the Ranger Raptor on US soil. We are most likely to get it this time. A plug-in hybrid is expected to launch, and the truck-based Everest SUV will also get a new generation. However, it will only be available in select markets. North America will not be one of them, as the model would clash against the Bronco.
