2023 Honda Civic Type R Spied in Another Workout at The Nurburgring

Two prototypes were found, each sounding lean and mean.

Honda doesn’t waste time introducing the next generation Civic Type R. We’ve seen the Honda Civic spy photos, and this latest CarSpyMedia video shows the 11th-generation Type R.

Two prototypes were spotted at Nurburgring. One was wearing red camouflage while the other is in white camo wraps. They both sound slim and mean, but there is one thing they have in common.

The 2023 Civic Type R is identical to the all-new Honda Civic. However, it has a more refined styling than the previous model. It has a higher intake at the front and fenders that are visible to be wider. We hope that the vents will return to their original form.

The rear wing is located higher on the tailgate, and has a flat form. The next-generation model retains the central triple exhausts, but the middle one is larger.

The newly-revealed Honda Civic Si has a manual gearbox. It’s safe to assume that the Type R will also get a stickshift. At this time, however, there are no details on the powertrain. There are wild rumors about a hybrid powertrain that will produce 400 horsepower. We can expect to see more power. An updated turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is more likely.

The all-new Honda Civic Type R will be unveiled in full next year, for the 2023 model year.
