This is the Discovery’s new top-of-the-line range.
Land Rover introduces the Metropolitan Edition to its 2023 Discovery range. It starts at $75,300, plus a $1350 destination fee.
Metropolitan Editon starts with the R-Dynamic High Speed Emission trim level. The Discovery badge and grille are enhanced with Bright Atlas accents. Lower bumper inserts are Hakuba Silver. The wheels are 22 inches in diameter and have a gloss grey finish. The brake calipers in black.
The interior features Titanium Mesh trim. The standard equipment in the cabin includes a head-up display and heated steering wheel. There is also a front cooler compartment and four-zone climate control. The heated third-row seat has power adjustment and is heated.
Only engine options are the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 48 volt mild-hybrid technology. It produces 355 horsepower (265kW) and 369 pound feet (500 Newton-meters of torque). It is powered by an eight-speed auto transmission. It can tow 8,200 pounds (3.719 kilograms)
Land Rover has also made some minor updates to the rest of its 2023 Discovery line-up. The standard features include wireless device charging, heated front chairs, adaptive cruise control and a Meridian stereo. The R-Dynamic trim also gets a standard gloss black roofing.
However, prices for the 2023 Discovery have been rising. The base model starts at $56,600, before destination. Comparatively, the entry-level model in 2022 was $56,600 before destination.
The Discovery received an update for the model year 2021. While the styling was largely unchanged, there were some major changes. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder producing 296 horsepower (221 kW), was added to the range. The range also included the mild-hybrid turbo-inline-six.
Land Rover has also added the Pivi Pro infotainment technology with an 11.4-inch display and optional 12.3-inch digital cluster. This tech supports future upgrades via over-the-air software.
