It will debut next month.
Mazda knows that the SUV market is still very booming. Therefore, it will increase its SUV offerings by adding four models to the CX-50, CX-60 and CX-70 ranges. A CX-90 will replace the CX-9 in America. As the Zoom-Zoom company already stated, the CX-50 will be the first to go as production will begin at the Mazda-Toyota plant in Huntsville in Alabama in January 2022.
The official debut will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. While the larger SUVs are more global models, but the CX-50 will only be available in the USA, it is still scheduled to make its public debut. Patent images of the exterior have been posted online, showing a familiar design.
Although we cannot verify the authenticity of the design sketches as the source is unknown, logic suggests that they are too complex to be a hoax. The Mazda design is evident by the appearance of the front grille, and it’s in line with the camouflaged prototype that was spotted in May in Southern California. To refresh your memory, we have attached the spy video.
It is obvious that the patent images show the same headlights as the test vehicle. The bumper also features the thin horizontal LED strips. The position of the radar sensor at the center is identical, as well as the shape and form of the quarter-glass. It appears that the corners of the taillight are also borderline identical.
The larger CX-50 will complement Mazda’s CX-5, much in the same way that the CX-30 joined the CX-3 to make it a slightly bigger and more spacious model. Mazda recently updated the CX-5 for the 2022 model-year and has now announced that the CX-5 will continue in Mazda’s SUV lineup and will receive “continuous product improvements.”
Mazda will not only increase its CX line, but also expand the MX-30’s range. The electric and hybrid versions are joined by an EV that extends the range with a generator powered by a rotating engine. Skyactiv-R will make its debut on the MX-30 in the first half 2022, but don’t expect to see it in a sports car.
