2023 Polestar 3 – This is How It Could Look

This exclusive rendering, which is unofficial, shows the SUV in its naked glory.

We often receive images of prototype vehicles covered in camouflage wraps. These photos are usually taken by a spy photographer. These images are often very good but can sometimes lack detail and clarity. Polestar published an official high-resolution image showing a Polestar 3 prototype with a camouflage body cover. We knew this was the perfect image to create a detailed rendering for previewing the production model.

Our exclusive rendering of the 2023 Polestar 3featured below is not official. It’s based upon the official Polestar image and has had the camouflage wrap digitally removed. The front clip shows some interesting symmetry, and the lower fascia intake is almost identical in size and shape as the grille. The corner vents are also similar to the housings and headlights higher up. Overall, the effect is pleasing but a little dull.

Looking back further, we see something hidden beneath the camouflage at the doors’ base, just above the rocker. This could be a strip of cladding that is the same color as rocker, to give the Polestar 3 an almost rugged look. This is definitely a trend with SUVs these days that tend closer to crossovers, and it doesn’t look out of place on the Polestar3.

The floating roof is another trend, but we’re not just making one for fun. Official photo shows visible body lines under the camo wrap in this area. We’ve decided to make it black rather than making it chrome. We have all exterior trim removed from our rendering to keep it black, which is a popular trend among automakers. This could be appropriate for Polestar 3, as Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath describes it as “a premium electric performance SUV which will redefine the look of SUVs within the electric age.”

What sort of performance does he mean? It’s not clear what kind of performance it will offer, but we do know that it will be available with single-motor or dual-motor options. It will likely be a two-row SUV because of its narrow roofline that doesn’t allow for any third person. It will be made at Volvo’s South Carolina factory and share space with XC90. This means that it may also share some components. Polestar has promised that its first SUV would be a stand-alone vehicle.

A formal debut is planned for 2022. It will likely be a model 2023.
